Special Talk on Conservation of Snakes and Crocodiles by Padmashri Romulus Whitaker, Snake Man of India at WII-ENVIS, Wildlife Institute of India on 27 March, 2018

Mr Romulus Whitaker, Founder of Madras Snake Park and Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Snake Man of India visited WII-ENVIS Centre, Wildlife Institute of India on 27 March, 2018. He was recently awarded India's fourth highest civilian award the Padma Shri in 2018. He delivered special talk on conservation of snakes and crocodiles in Institute’s Auditorium. Faculty of WII, Students, Researchers and staff of WII participated in the special talk. A short documentary film was also screened in the Institute Auditorium and was appreciated by the participants.

A meeting was arranged at Institute’s Board Room in which faculty of Wildlife Institute of India were present. Dr. K. Sivakumar, Scientist-F & ENVIS Coordinator briefed Romulus Whitaker about the activities and mandate of WII-ENVIS Centre. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss about the long term conservation of reptiles in India including the Human-Crocodile conflicts issues in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and peninsular India.

Mr Romulus Whitaker appreciated the activities and publications of WII-ENVIS Centre. Dr. V.B. Mathur, Director presented memento to the guest.
