The 2024 World Environment Day will center on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience, with the slogan "Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration." This focus aligns with the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). This significant event serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of preserving and restoring our land for the well-being of future generations.
As we come together under the banner of #GenerationRestoration, we are empowered to take meaningful actions to combat desertification and enhance drought resilience By protecting and revitalizing ecosystems, we can mitigate climate change, preserve biodiversity, and ensure sustainable livelihoods for all. Together, we have the power to make a positive impact and create a more resilient and thriving world for ourselves and the generations to come. Restoring land is a fundamental aspect of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), a global initiative urging the safeguarding and rejuvenation of ecosystems worldwide. This initiative is crucial for attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.
