He is the Director of Bharti Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research (BVIEER), Pune.  He has been active in various aspects of wildlife and nature conservation over the past 45 years.  He has been a member and an executive functionary of several conservation institutions including the Bombay Natural History Society, Worldwide Fund for Nature, Wildlife Institute of India and Salim Ali Centre for Ornitholgy and Natural History.  He developed the BVIEER in Pune which has grown into a multi-faceted environment educational institution.  Has authored the 3 volume ‘Wonders of the Indian Wilderness’ published by Mapin Publishers in 2006.

Dr. H.S. Pabla

He has over 35 years of professional experience in the field of forest and wildlife management including working as a scientist in WII for a 5 year period (1991-1996).  He superannuated as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, Government of Madhya Pradesh in 2012.  He has worked as FAO Protected Area Planning and Management Consultant in Sri Lanka.  He has extensive experience of park management, ecodevelopment planning, ecotourism, international cooperation and wildlife policy and law.

Dr. R.D. Jakati

He has over 37 years of professional experience in the field of forest and wildlife management.  He superannuated as the Director of Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun in February 2012.  He was Chief Wildlife Warden, Haryana State for over nine years. He established the Vulture Conservation Centre at Pinjore and was conferred Honorary Conservation Fellowship by the Zoological Society, London.  He has also worked as the Director General, Forest Survey of India.  His professional expertise includes wildlife management, participatory governance, resource assessment and capacity building.

He superannuated as Director, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (ISRO) & Director, Centre for Space Sciences & Technology Education in Asia & the Pacific (Affiliated in the United Nations).  He has made significant and pioneering contributions in Geo-information sciences and Remote Sensing technology for measuring, mapping and monitoring of natural resources, conceptualizing solutions for disaster management and investigative exploration of geospatial analysis and modelling. He has made scientific contribution in developing remote sensing based methods to study vegetation, landscapes and ecosystems.  He has instituted Masters, Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate programmes at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) with technical collaboration with International Institute of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation Science ITC), The Netherlands.  He has published more than 135 papers in peer reviewed national and international journals, edited 4 books and has contributed 30 chapters in different books.

Dr. Mewa Singh

He has experience of more than 30 years in the field of wildlife science and management. He had taught and trained several graduate students/biologists across the country in the field of wildlife biology and management. He has conducted and supervised research work on several Mammalian species such as Rhesus macaque, Lion-tailed macaque, Bonnet macaque, Long-tailed macaque, Japanese macaque, Hanuman langur, Nilgiri langur, Slender loris, Blackbuck, Indian gray wolf, small carnivores, large squirrels, rodents and bats. He has several awards to his credit such as: University of Mysore Golden Jubilee Science Award 2004, Fellow Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, 2008, Fellow Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, 2009, Fellow National Academy of Sciences Allahabad, 2009, Ramanna Fellow, DST, 2009 and Fellow (FNAPsy) National Academy of Psychology India, 2010. He is currently a member of Research Advisory Committee, CCMB, Hyderabad, Research Advisory and Monitoring Committee, CES, IISc, Bangalore and DST PAC (Animal Sciences), Govt. of India. He has more than 100 scientific publications in National and International Journals to his credit.

He superannuated as Director General of Forests & Special Secretary to the Government of India in 2015. He has over 38 years of experience in forest and wildlife management. He has good experience of dealing with wildlife conservation and management issues in north-eastern India and is a good nature photographer.

He superannuated as the Director of the G.B. Pant Institute for Environment and Development (GBPHIED), Almora. He is an eminent scientist and specializes in plant biotechnology. He has been part of Indian delegation for the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and has been selected as an expert by the UN Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) on biodiversity assessment.

Sh. D.D. Misra

He is presently the Director (Human Resources) at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). He has been spearheading ONGC conservation initiatives for restoring the fragile ecosystems in Uttarakhand; mangroves in Gujarat and Swamp deer in Assam. He is an avid wildlife photographer and has authored a book ‘The Karjat Dairies’, which profiles the biodiversity of Western Ghats.

Prof. P.C. Bhattacharjee

He is the former Head Department of Zoology, Guwahati University, Assam. Dr. Bhattacharjee and his students are constantly interacting with WII in the field of wildlife research particularly in North-East region. Dr. Bhattacharjee has been providing valuable inputs in all surveys and research work undertaken by the Institute in all North-Eastern states. He has more than 30 years of research experience and has published several research papers in peer reviewed journals nationally and internationally.

He superannuated as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of the Forest Force, Government of Rajasthan in December, 2011. He has also worked as Chief Wildlife Warden from 2005 to 2010. He was the Member-Secretary of the State Empowered Committee on Forests and Wildlife Management constituted by the Government of Rajasthan. His area of professional expertise are forest and wildlife management, watershed management and participatory governance.

Dr. (Mrs.) Renne Borges

Dr. Renee Borges is currently the Chairperson of the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore. She has more than 25 years of research experience and has published several research papers in peer reviewed journals nationally and internationally. Her research areas are Arboreal Mammals, Community Ecology and Plant-Animal Interactions. Dr. Borges is a Life Member of Ethological Society of India and International Union for the Study of Social Insects (Indian chapter).

Dr. Priya Davidar is a currently serving as Professor at Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, University of Pondicherry. She has dedicated more than two decades of her career in the field of ecology focusing on the “Pollination biology and ecosystem services”, “Factors influencing the large scale patterns of species distributions” and “Human impact on forests”. Dr. Davidar was also honored as the President of the Association of Tropical Biology and Conservation in year 2009. “Whispers from the wildis a book written by Dr. Priya Davidar along with her father E.R.C Davidar’s assistance and support. Being actively involved with the conservation of wildlife and nature, Dr. Priya Davidar is also a member of American Association for the Advancement of Science. She has to her credit a contribution of over 100 publications.

Dr. Uma Ramakrishnan

Dr. Uma Ramakrishnan is an Assistant Professor at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS). She obtained her PhD from the University of California, San Diego on population genetics and the effects of mating systems on genetic variation. She has conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University on the genetic impacts of climatic change. She started her position at NCBS in 2005, and has set up a laboratory investigating population genetics and the evolutionary history of mammals. She and her lab members are helping conservation projects on tiger, leopard, macaques and rodents.
