World Turtle Day Celebrations in the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh on 23 May, 2018

The WII-ENVIS Resource Partner at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun celebrated World Turtle Day Celebration at Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh. Children from local school were invite to participate this event.

A brief talk was delivered to children on type of turtles, their food habits, importance in the ecosystem, and their conservation along with the demonstration of turtle hatchlings. Then turtle hatchlings were released in the hatchling enclosure. A painting competition was also organized for the students. Children were also briefed about the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) a new initiative programme of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), New Delhi and explained how joining the course would help them in enhancing their livelihood. Many interested children enquired about this course and filled the form for the GSDP course.
